Employees of project "Bearded Vulture LIFE" and the Wildlife rehabilitation and breeding center - Green Balkans participated at the International Conference “Vultures’ Return to the Balkan Mountain”, which took place on November 29th in Dimitrovgrad, Serbia.

The scientific forum was organized by BirdLife Serbia and the main topic was the recovery of the vulture population, improvement of nesting conditions and food availability, supporting local livestock breeders, promotion of extensive animal husbandry, increase of large ungulate game species, and elimination of the threats leading to vultures’ extinction.

The participation of the team of the Rescue Centre of Green Balkans was in the form of a presentation in which the main topics discussed were the functions of vultures as a natural incinerator and their importance in the elimination of infectious diseases. Attention was also directed to the preservation of traditional breeds of farm animals and raising awareness among farmers from the target areas.

Students from Trakia University - Stara Zagora actively participated during the preparation of the presentation and the introduction of the team.

We would like to express our gratitude to our colleagues from BirdLife Serbia for the good organization and hospitality during the event!
