Working Meeting of the “Bearded Vulture LIFE” Project Team

A working meeting of the project team took place in Blagoevgrad from March 5th to 7th. Representatives from all partners attended, namely – “Green Balkans - Stara Zagora” Association, Fund for Wild Flora and Fauna, EcoCOnstnost Foundation, EVN - Elektrorazpredelenie Yug EAD, Severozapadno State Enterprise - Vratsa, "Sinite Kamani" Natural Park Directorate  from Bulgaria, Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF) from the Netherlands, and Milvus group from Romania.

During the meeting, the progress on the project, upcoming activities, problems, challenges, and ways to overcome them were discussed. Ivaylo Zafirov, the technical monitor of the project from ELMEN EEIG, who oversees and monitors the project for the EC – and which funds the project with 75% of its budget, also attended the meeting. This ensures independent control by the donor, thus guarantees the quality implementation of the project activities, which are in the public interest.

During the meeting, visits were made to the sites in the area of the Kresna Gorge and Pirin National Park, where the Wildlife Conservation Fund operates.

As part of the meeting, our team welcomed the first shipment of Cinereous Vultures within the project, delivered with the assistance of the organizations AMUS and the Vulture Conservation Foundation (VCF), donated to Bulgaria by the Regional Governments of Extremadura and Andalusia.
